Inspired by true events. Hanging Tree tells the story of Mary Webster — an older woman accused of witchcraft in colonial Boston and sentenced to hang. As the Salem-era trials reach their fever pitch, Mary is dragged through the snow by the men who believe she’s cursed their town. But beneath the surface of superstition and fear, something more ancient stirs -- bees that won’t leave her, dreams that don’t fade, and a town unraveling beneath the weight of its own delusions. Is Mary truly dangerous, or just misunderstood? Told with stark poetry and restrained horror, Hanging Tree is a mythic meditation on power, aging, and the cost of belief -- where the line between fear and faith dissolves before our eyes.
