In an unnamed American city, a man no one notices — polite, clean, invisible — attends a stand-up comedian's shows and constructs an entire relationship with her inside his head. He cooks her dinner, tests her material, fights and makes up — all alone, all to clips and social media posts. The only real person who sees him is Carl, a lobby security guard whose unearned kindness becomes the closest thing to human connection Ed has ever known. When Ali's career takes off and the fantasy collapses under the weight of real distance, Ed kills Carl, buys a ring, and drives twenty-five hours to propose to a woman who doesn't know his name — live, on stage, in front of three hundred people and cameras. THE GUY is a slow-burn character study about parasocial obsession, male invisibility, and the violence that grows in the space between being seen and being known.
