THE CHOIR - (in development)
Horror / Drama -- Midsommar, The Devil's Backbone, Whiplash
A disgraced New York choral conductor — her voice locked shut since she pushed a student into a psychiatric hold — is recruited by a mysterious intermediary to train a children's choir at an ancient compound in the volcanic highlands of central Mexico. The children sing with impossible precision. The stone walls amplify frequencies that shouldn't exist. And something beneath the ground feeds on unified voice — consuming the individuality of every conductor and child who channels its hunger. As the children begin to lose their voices, their memories, and themselves, Mara discovers that the only defense against an entity that devours unity is the thing she was fired for destroying: the irreducible, imperfect, individual human voice. THE CHOIR is a folk-horror grief story about the cost of artistic control, the violence of conformity, and the radical act of letting people sing for themselves.
