HEMLOCK CURE - (in development)
Psychological Thriller Misery, No Country for Old Men, The Silence of the Lambs
Claire Ryder arrives at a remote farmhouse in Hemlock County posing as a county nurse, but her real target is Walter Crane -- a seventy-eight-year-old hunter she believes is the Hemlock Butcher, an uncaught serial killer responsible for thirty-seven murders across four decades, including her mother's at the 1987 Starlight Diner massacre. Claire was seven, hiding under a booth. Her sister never recovered. But the monster she came to confront is vanishing -- Walter's Lewy Body dementia erases his crimes faster than Claire can surface them, trapping her between a killer who emerges in flashes of terrifying lucidity and a helpless old man who weeps and asks what he's done. When she discovers Walter has been tracking her since childhood and may have engineered her arrival, the power between them collapses. With the local sheriff quietly looking the other way and hospice transfer days from sealing Walter beyond her reach, Claire turns to the one remedy Walter documented in his own journal: hemlock root. But killing a man who can't remember his sins doesn't bring justice. It brings inheritance. HEMLOCK CURE is an intimate two-hander about grief, memory, and the irreversible moment when hunting a monster makes you one.
